The
job market is sincerely strained and thus a high time that all Kenyans
including the youth, students from universities and colleges should rethink of
better way to create jobs. Let's consider how many youths posses highly ranking
educational certificates yet they are jobless. It’s not that they are too
selective or lazy to seek for employment, No. In fact a big number will tell
you that they've hit end of the road in their job seeking. But i don't think
so, why? Reason being, there are plenty of workable small scale dairy farming
ideas worthy of thinking about.
We
were analyzing with a friend about how a fellow in small scale dairy farming in
Kenya could do. Assume you have only one locally breed cow. Which you'll most
probably acquire it with less than khs10,000. Keeping one cow is very
comfortable and manageable even if it is within the homestead, as it doesn't
need much space. Ideally, other than tethering just build for it a mall shed
with feeding and drinking doughs.
You
may as well take creativity a mile ahead by building a urinal for it. Have the
floor build in a slanting or rather a hilly topography. This will collect and
carry the urine together with any other liquids like water hence leaving its
house ever dry and fresh. Remember the small scale dairy farming idea in Kenya
we are dealing with covers a single cow but you can also use it with many once
your firm grows bigger.
I
often advise people, since you are keeping this animal for money, try and buy
one which is a little younger but has at least given birth once. If lucky
enough you can as well get that which is already pregnant. Lets know get to the
cash reality. On the lower side, assume your cow is giving you 3 bottles each
day. This is morning time only, and mark you, milking is always done twice,
thus a definite upsurge in production.
As
at today, a liter of milk goes for Ksh40 bob that's again on the lower side. So
for the sake of getting precise and accurate analysis, by the sale of 3 bottle,
what do you get? That is 120/=, now to how many people could these amount go
to? Precisely only 3! Compare this to the market around you, huh? Milk is a
basic commodity so you have to increase the number of your cows! So if you get
to have 5 local breed cows, you become fully qualified and ready to be
considered in the small scale dairy farming idea Sacco.
There
are many small scale dairy farming ideas Saccos' which unite and collectively
sell their milk to large processing plants like the KCC. Most of these
associations are firmer friendly and with any collateral they can lend you some
cash to boost the number of your animals. With 5 cows all producing milk, you
will have more than 20 bottles each day. That is 5 * 3, plus 5- the surplus
which you get after milking in the evening.
Here
you'll now talk of 20bottles multiply by 40/= which gives you Ksh800. One
important thing you need to always bear in mind when it comes to this small
scale dairy farming idea is regulating the expense. This is also simple and
easily achievable by ensuring the animals stay in a clean environment. You can
also make schedule health checkups for the cows with one of your government
veterinary officers if you can't afford a private one.
I
was taking to a friend of mine and he was wondering how far he would have been
as at today if he embraced this idea. With exclamation he went on..., "how
i wish these came into my brains 5year ago after high school...but the problem
is we fail to get it right until someone gets to tarmac for eternity in the
name of job seeking" he murmured. I am quite certain that if we embrace this
small scale dairy farming idea, nobody will ever think of being
employed.
